D.I.U's Memorable Quranic Achievement and Engaging Programs in August 2023

Campbelltown, N.S.W - September 4, 2023 August was a month of remarkable milestones and enriching programs at Daar Ibn Umar (D.I.U), the Islamic educational centre nestled in Campbelltown, New South Wales. Among the highlights of the month was a significant accomplishment that resonates deeply with the centre's mission of nurturing spiritual growth and education: the completion of the memorization of the Quran by one of its dedicated students. Our greatest achievement this month was the culmination of a student's journey in memorizing the Quran, an accomplishment that fills our hearts with gratitude. This remarkable feat stands as a testament to the dedication of our students, the unwavering support of their parents, and the profound commitment of our teachers. The entire community at D.I.U celebrates this momentous achievement, recognizing that it is a collective endeavour in the path of Deen (faith). Throughout August, D.I.U had the privilege of hosting a distinguished lineup of visiting scholars, fostering intellectual and spiritual growth within its community. Sydney was graced by the presence of renowned scholars including Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Adam Al-Kawthari, Sheikh Muhammad Yaseer Al-Hanafi, Sheikh Faisal Manjoo, Mufti Tauqeer, and others. Although we were not able to host them all at D.I.U, their profound wisdom and insights were shared with a global audience through the centre's broadcast channel, which can be accessed at (https://daar-ibn-umar.mixlr.com). A key event in the centre's monthly calendar is the youth night, which saw a full house in August. Qari Hassan Kazi, the Imam of Rockdale Masjid, engaged the young audience with his interactive talk on "The Effects of Good and Bad Friends." Following the talk, a live Q&A session run through the SLIDO app provided the youth with an anonymous platform to ask questions on their minds. The evening continued with Kahoot games, prizes, and concluded with a delightful sausage sizzle and dessert. Another standout event was the monthly Community Lecture, featuring International Guest Speaker Mufti Tauqeer Chaudhary, who delivered an informative talk on "Muslims in the West." Attendees actively participated in a Q&A session before enjoying a delectable dinner. The month wrapped up with the "Parents and Students Program" on a Friday evening. Commencing with lessons from the Seerah (biography of Prophet Muhammad), the program concluded with a discussion on the importance of punctuality and participation in D.I.U's array of programs designed to foster spiritual and personal growth, followed by a pizza feast. The new month kicked off on a blessed note with the arrival of a delegation from "Madrasah An-Noor for the Blind." D.I.U hosted the Jamaat of Ulamaa and elders from this special delegation, further solidifying the centre's commitment to inclusivity and community outreach. For a more detailed account of this meaningful visit, please read the dedicated article available on D.I.U's website. As September unfolds, Daar Ibn Umar eagerly anticipates an array of exciting and engaging programs, promising another month of spiritual enrichment and community connection. The centre continues to be a beacon of learning, unity, and spiritual growth in the heart of Campbelltown, N.S.W.

Eid Prayers

*SUNNAH* (practices of Nabi-peace be upon him) *ON THE DAY OF EID-UL ADHA* 🟢 To rise as early as possible 🟢 To make Ghusl (Take a bath) 🟢 To use the Miswaak (brush our teeth) 🟢 To apply Itr (perfume) 🟢 To wear one’s best clothes (not necessarily new), ensuring that it conforms with Sharia (Islamic code of dressing) 🟢 For Eid-ul-Adha is like Eid-ul-Fitr in every sense except for that in Eid-ul-Adha it is desirable not to eat anything before prayer, if you have eaten then there is no harm 🟢 To go to the ‘Eid Gah’ (Place of Eid Prayer) as early as possible. 🟢 To perform Eid Salaat on the ‘Eid Gah’ rather than the Masjid. There is no harm for aged and the sick to perform their Eid Salaat in the Masjid. Rain is also an excuse for performing Eid Salaat in the Masjid. 🟢 To choose a separate route when returning from the Eid Gah. 🟢 To walk to the Eid Gah. However, there is no harm in using any means of conveyance if the Eid Gah is a distance away. 🟢 Recite the following takbir in abundance: Allahu-Akbar, Allahu-Akbar. La ila-ha ill-lallah.Allahu-Akbar, Allahu-Akbar. Wa-lilahill hamd. (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah. Allah is Greatest, Allah is Greatest. And all praises are for Allah) *اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ. وَاَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ* 🟢 If we have the means then Qurbani (Udhiyya) should be done 🔴 Please bring something to pray on, the ground will be extremely cold due to winter morning. ⚠️ If the grass area is wet or muddy, Eid will be prayed on the asphalt area. Either way the ground will be cold, as it is mid-winter. 🔴 If due to rain, wet weather or bad conditions, Eid Prayer will be moved to the Madrasah Level 2, 116 Queen St 8am Sharp ⚠️ It is a sunnah to pray Eid ul Adha early and then go to do Qurbaani. Congratulations to our Imams

RESPONSIBILITIES OF IMAAM As the month of Ramadhaan ends, many of our Huffaz (plural of Hafiz) were selected to lead the people in Taraweeh salaah. They were appointed as the Imaams to enable the people to perform the special Ibadah of Taraweeh salaah. According to the Ahadith the Imaam enjoys a superior status. It is reported in a Hadith that the Imaam who performs salaah in such a manner that the congregation is pleased will have a mount of musk on the day of Qiyamat (Tirmizi vol.2, pg.84). Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also made dua for the hidayat (guidance) of the Imaams (Tirmizi vol.1, pg.51). This is indeed an honour – but more than that it is a tremendous responsibility. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is reported to have said: “The Imaam is responsible (Haakim).”If the Imaam performs the salaah correctly, the salaah of the congregation will likewise be correct. If the Imaam is negligent, he will bear the burden of the deficiency that occurred in the salaah of the entire congregation due to his negligence. The Imaam should also be an Imaam in the Musjid while leading the salaah, as well as conduct himself as an Imaam when out of the Musjid. This applies even though you may just be an Imaam for the Taraweeh salaah only. This is a very difficult time for our young Huffaz. Sacrifices like forfeiting sleep, various recreation activities, social gatherings and outings, attachment to the mobiles phones, reading books – the list is endless, to lead us in Taraweeh and Tahujjud. Spending their fasting hours revising and preparing to help us to fulfil the great responsibility and the Sunnah in this mubaarak month. Leading Taraweeh prayer is a great responsibility and requires a lot of preparation and dedication. Students understand their responsibility, striving to do the best job possible to ensure the spiritual benefit of the community. This year our students were leading multiple Taraweeh jamaats in many different locations, completing multiple Qur'ans, in multiple places. And another Qur'an in Qiyaamul Layl in the last ten nights at Daar Ibn Umar. We are actually supposed to offer maximum respect and honour to these Huffaz, and should be extremely grateful to them for helping us to complete our Ibaadah in this blessed month. Instead of doing that, many of us are making them the targets of our criticisms. Criticising such a person whose status is elevated so high is obviously a grave mistake. It also tantamount to committing the sin of backbiting. To show our gratitude to our honoured Huffaz for their efforts and sacrifices that we benefited from, we are arranging a collection for them as a small gift. We cannot begin to repay them for what they have done for us in this month, but this gift is just a small token of our appreciation. You may contribute to this by clicking the link below. May Allah accept all their Fasting, A'maal, Du'as and sacrifices. And May Allah accept from all those who supported us, and helped us to get to this point. https://diu.themasjidapp.net/donations/1460
